As a Medium, I come into contact with thousands of people who are grieving the loss of passed loved ones, especially around the holidays. I was recently interviewed on ABC Action Tampa Bay’s Morning Blend, on the ways I believe we can move through the holidays while missing our loved ones.

My first recommendation is to keep their traditions alive. If your passed loved one had a favorite meal, make the recipe. If they enjoyed playing certain games, pull out the games. They are with while you are taking part in the things they love.
Next, it’s okay not to be okay. With grief, there will be ups and downs. When you are feeling happy, allows yourself to feel that emotion without guilt. When you’re experiencing sadness, allow those feelings to flow too.
It’s crucial to surround yourself with a great support system. Even though it may be difficult to leave your house, try the best you can to push yourself and surround yourself with family and friends.
Lastly, keep an open dialogue going about your feelings so that you aren’t bottling them up. Everyone grieves differently and you must trust your own process.
